Are you sure you are looking in the right place??

Notes to self..

If the intention is to see something grand, something beautiful and frightening at the same time, something ethereal, train your eyes for galaxies. If you peek in the corners behind the doors, you would only find dirt and roaches. Never forget to check what you are looking for and where you are looking.

This reminded me of a quote by Oscar Wilde. Your thought is almost the same in spirit and form, both.

‘We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars’

A peek in the corner behind doors – represents our temporal existence, bound with the immediate which is in a way symbolically the dirt and roaches.

Galaxies represent our eternal existence – the ethereal, beyond time.

With analysis every word of man can be reduced to an absurdity.
Analysis: Vocation of men who think themselves too clever.
There is sense in what you said initially. Forget the rest.

In ‘the dark behind the doors’ we can meet oneself, the angel, the devil, and God without any distractions.

    • Well, I would not be so sure if all those entities had one fixed address. And, anyway, if one wanted to look for beauty and grandeur, one wanted to look for those. That does not mean that one shuts doors on God and all others forever, and that those will not be found except behind doors. What say?

But in beauty and grandeur, God hides himself. Only in dirt, despair, death, and the insignificant does he reveal himself. Why seek beauty at the cost of truth.

    • I would slightly modify your assertion if it were my opinion: dirt and roaches can represent truth.
May be there would be beauty and grandeur in a roach’s cell structure or the sophistication of its sensing and survival mechanisms. But then it is a laboratory, an abode of science. Not a dark corner. If for some reason I am determined to be in the dark behind the doors, I should have expectations more realistic.
